Born on May 27, 1999, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, the 27-year-old French-American actress began her cinematic journey with a minor appearance as Girl Clerk #2 in the 2014 horror-comedy Tusk. For this early credit, she used her full birth name, Lily-Rose Melody Depp. She later reprised the character, Colleen Collette, in the 2016 spin-off Yoga Hosers. However, her true breakthrough arrived that same year in European cinema. She portrayed modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan in The Dancer (La Danseuse). Screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, production materials officially described this performance as her first major role. She continued building her resume in 2016 by playing Kate Barlow in Planetarium.
Over the following years, Lily-Rose Depp expanded her catalog of movies with diverse international projects. In 2018, she appeared as Laura in Savage and Ève in A Faithful Man. The following year, she took on the historical role of Catherine in The King (2019). The year 2021 proved particularly busy for the actress, adding four distinct narrative feature films to her filmography: she played Emmie Kelly in Crisis, Sela in the sci-fi thriller Voyagers, Sophie in Silent Night, and Cecile (also known as Wildcat) in Wolf. Most recently among her released features, she starred as Ellen Hutter in the 2024 film Nosferatu.
While her feature film career is extensive, her television footprint is highly concentrated. Depp made her scripted television-series debut starring as the complex pop star Jocelyn in HBO’s The Idol, which premiered on June 4, 2023. She is credited across five episodes of the show. Beyond traditional movies and TV shows, her on-screen work encompasses short films and promotional formats. In 2019, she played Paloma in the short film My Last Lullaby and appeared as herself in the documentary short Period. End of Sentence. Her portfolio also includes high-profile promotional videos, such as Chanel No. 5 L’eau: “You Know Me and You Don’t” (2016), Chanel: Chanel 22 (2022), and a music video appearance in The Weeknd featuring Future’s “Double Fantasy” (2023).
Looking ahead, the 165 cm tall actress has several high-profile projects in the pipeline. Focus Features has scheduled Robert Eggers’ horror film Werwulf, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, and Depp, for a U.S. theatrical release on December 25, 2026. Additionally, she is part of the principal cast for Joe Talbot’s The Governesses, which was listed in post-production by the British Council's UK Films Database as of May 5, 2026. She is also featured in the ensemble cast of Alpha Gang, directed by David and Nathan Zellner. In July 2026, Alpha Gang was announced for an international premiere in the Special Presentations program at the Toronto International Film Festival.
